Job Summary: As a Prep Cook at Nokomis House, you will be an integral part of our culinary team, responsible for preparing ingredients and supporting the kitchen staff in creating high-quality, modern American fare with a Mexican twist. You will work in a fast-paced environment, ensuring that all food is prepared to the highest standards of quality, freshness, and presentation.
Key Responsibilities:

Ingredient Preparation: Accurately measure, cut, chop, and portion ingredients according to recipes and kitchen standards.

Assisting the Kitchen Team: Support chefs by setting up and stocking stations with necessary supplies, ensuring all ingredients are ready for service.

Maintaining Cleanliness: Keep workstations, equipment, and utensils clean and organized, adhering to health and safety regulations.

Food Safety Compliance: Follow proper food handling and storage procedures to ensure a safe and sanitary kitchen environment.

Support in Cooking Processes: Assist in basic cooking tasks, such as grilling, sautéing, and frying, under the guidance of senior kitchen staff.

Inventory Management: Monitor ingredient levels and notify the kitchen manager when supplies need to be replenished.

Quality Control: Ensure that all prepared ingredients meet the restaurant’s high standards for taste, texture, and appearance.

Collaboration: Work closely with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth and efficient operation during service.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a prep cook or in a similar role, preferably in a Mexican or Latin-inspired restaurant.
- Strong knowledge of modern culinary techniques.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Excellent knife skills and proficiency in basic cooking techniques.
- Understanding of food safety and sanitation practices.
- Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Manual dexterity to handle knives and other kitchen equipment.
